Students will then watch a demonstration of how to create a collage-style portrait of a person using construction paper and scrap-paper. Following the step-by-step directions, learners will then each create a collage-style portrait of their father. Students will be shown different shapes to draw and cut to form the body. Students will make connections through literature and understand different ways fathers care for us. Students will also follow step-by-step directions to create a collage-style portrait.
As a children’s author and illustrator, as well as elementary school teacher, I enjoy teaching young learners the process of creating art that is meaningful and reflects their own interests.
