Understanding figurative language is essential to not only reading comprehension but becoming a stronger writer as well. Each week we will learn about a specific type of figurative language, work on identifying figurative language in context, and practice writing examples of figurative language in a fun, interactive lesson. I am a licensed teacher in the areas of Elementary Education and Special Education. I have taught grades K-5th at a public elementary school for the last 9 years. Additionally, I have provided online ELA tutoring for elementary-age students across the country and internationally.

Parental Guidance statement: resources used outside of Outschool include Kahoot. I will share the Kahoot link during the class via the chat in Zoom. Students will simply click on the link in the chat and another window will open with Kahoot. Next, I will provide the game pin that students will type in to join the game. Students will have two windows open on their devices: Zoom and Kahoot during class. Or you may choose to have two separate devices for the class- one for Kahoot and another for Zoom if that is more beneficial for your learner.
