In this one-time class, we will learn facts about the big cats with "Big Cats" from Socratica Science, and have fun reading stories like, "Lion Lessons" and "It's a Tiger!". Little learners can build great listening, observation and creative thinking skills during storytime, asking questions and using their imagination. In fact, did you know that reading aloud to kids has clear cognitive benefits? For example, brain scans show that hearing stories strengthens the part of the brain...
Students will listen to stories and ask and answer questions throughout the readings, practice taking turns talking, listening and sharing observations about four of the big cats. We will also work on our fine motor and observation skills when we work together to complete pictures of a lion, a tiger, a cheetah and a leopard.

Using the information we learn in class, we will work together to add details to the templates to create a lion, a tiger a cheetah and a leopard. For example, we would add a mane to make a lion, stripes for the tiger, and spots to create a cheetah and a leopard. ** It's not mandatory that your learner participate in the activity. If they prefer to observe and create their big cats after class, that's OK too!
Because of the age of the class I recommend a grown up be within "ear-shot" to help with any technical hiccups (mic and video) that might come up.
