Welcome to EVERYONE IS AN ARTIST engaging art curriculum aligned with National Core Standards for Secondary Visual Arts (High School). We meet once a week per semester.

The Everyone is an Artist High School Art Class focused on the Elements of Art aims to foster creativity and self-expression in every student. This class embraces the belief that everyone has artistic abilities and provides an inclusive and supportive environment for exploring the fundamental elements of art and no prior knowledge is necessary. Included in each lesson are tips to help you become more imaginative and original, and features on famous artists throughout history.

Throughout the course, students will engage in a variety of projects that allow them to apply and experiment with the elements of art. They will build a comprehensive body of work that showcases their understanding and ability to incorporate the elements of art into their creative work.

Benefits of the course:
Developing a strong understanding of the fundamental elements of art
Enhancing creative thinking and problem-solving skills
Nurturing self-expression and confidence in artistic abilities
Building a versatile and dynamic art portfolio
Fostering an inclusive and supportive artistic community
Gaining exposure to diverse art styles and mediums

Weekly lessons & activities will include a combination of the following:
-Art drawing prompts
-Discussions about creativity, art process and art observation.
-Written, typed, and/or posted responses to prompts
-Imaginative drawings or projects
-Featured artist or artistic movement.

These will consist of instructional and informational .pdf's, printable worksheets, Google Forms, and occasional demonstration or introduction videos. Your child will be encouraged to interact with me and classmates during the live online class and throughout the week by posting original responses, observing others responses as well as well-known artworks, and commenting on them. In total, plan for 2-4 hours of work assigned weekly in addition to the 45-minute live online class. The lessons will vary in degree of difficulty giving students choice in completing only the assignment/s that best aligns with their goals.

Students who have questions about the activities, or would like feedback about in-progress work are invited to submit inquiries and work through Outschool Classroom for a response. For the quickest reply time, contact me during Teacher Office Hours M-F 7:00 AM PT - 5:00 PM PT. Students can request a live zoom meeting with me for support, although these are not required. I am so excited to bring my virtual high school curriculum to Outschool. I am an artist and teacher who has been teaching High School Art at a Virtual Academy Charter for the past 5 years (implementing and refining the lessons and activities) and K-8 Art in onsite workshops at a homeschool/independent study Charter for the past 8 years. Art is my passion and I love supporting others in growing their skills and knowledge about varied art mediums.
