Establishing effective note taking, time management, and study habits are invaluable skills for all students, setting them up for success now and throughout their educational career. In this multi-day camp, I work with students to learn about, create, and maintain more efficient and practical work habits and routines that utilize their resources in the most productive way. I will provide a wealth of material, along with examples and resources to help students see these crucial skill sets in a different way. Topics to be covered in each meeting include: 

Day 1:   Discovering Your Learning Style and Methods for Note Taking
Day 2:   Skills and Strategies for Taking More Effective Notes
Day 3:   Developing Habits and Implementing Essential Study Skills
Day 4:   Creating a Work System: Staying Organized, Managing Time, and Stacking Habits

Throughout camp, we will identify various tools, skills, and measures that allow the student to create and customize a work system that maximizes time and energy, allowing for less stress but better results. Each session includes a lecture, discussion, and practice to ensure understanding. This offers students the opportunity to be invested in their learning and have a better appreciation of the outcome of their work efforts.

I have extensive experience working with children, adolescents, and young adults within the educational and mental health systems.   While in graduate school, I was a part time college instructor which ignited my passion for teaching. I then became a mental health therapist, working in residential facilities as well as the community. For the past three years, I have taught English to students abroad.  

Along with being a teacher, I am also a writer. I have had two short stories published, and I continue to regularly submit material. For three years, I had a blog that included my short stories, reviews, and opinions on various issues. Other examples of my writing experience consist of curriculums for an independent living program, program descriptions, numerous website articles, as well as online advertisements. I enjoy sharing my passion for writing with students and hearing about what inspires them. I strive to provide a supportive atmosphere for my students, allowing them to harness and express their creativity in ways unique to them. 

Throughout my educational and professional careers, I have implemented various tools in my own life to create and maintain a system of learning, organization, and balance. After numerous successes and failures, I now believe the knowledge of "how to learn" is a skill that serves us well after we graduate from school. I enjoy sharing these valuable skills with students who may discover a new way to be productive, feel confident as they plan for their future, and apply them to different parts of their lives for the rest of their lives.
