In this 4-week course, your child will learn select English vocabulary words and common phrases. We will practice matching the vocabulary to pictures. Students will practice using the vocabulary through repetition. Over the 4-week period, we will cover colors, numbers 1-20, family relationships (Dad, Mom, Grandma, Grandpa, Brother, Sister, Cousins, Aunt, Uncle), select animals, and popular foods. We will also practice common English phrases throughout the course. The last (8th) class includes an assessment which I will complete and send to you so that we both know how your child has progressed in his/her English language skills.

Week 1: Colors, numbers 0-5, common phrases and questions
Week 2: Family Relationships, numbers 6-10, common phrases and questions
Week 3: Animals, numbers 11-15, common phrases and questions
Week 4: Foods, numbers 16-20, common phrases and questions

I will use a PowerPoint presentation, flashcards, and/or other props/realia to teach the material each week. I include pictures and interactive activities to develop the concepts. I provide TPR (Total Physical Response) to develop vocabulary comprehension. I use direct teaching as well as student participation. My presentation includes direct instruction to present the content as well as fun activities to engage the students. Students will participate by listening and repeating, as well as identifying the correct pictures to match the vocabulary and phrases throughout the lesson. In this way, I will gauge their understanding and help develop it more.

I have taught in elementary school for 15 years and I am certified in Pre-K through 5th grade. Also, I have an ESOL Endorsement. I am very experienced and am prepared to help your child improve their English language skills!
