Welcome to Mr. V.'s 8-week video course journey, "Empowering STEM-Minded Youth: Intro. to Physics With Dynamic Video," an enlightening path that unfolds the wonders of physics through the lens of motion and forces, intricately designed to not only educate but also to inspire young minds. This course, carefully curated to foster a deep understanding and appreciation of physics, will guide students through a series of asynchronous engaging and challenging topics, each accompanied by a video lesson that serves as both a learning tool and a source of inspiration. With each lesson meticulously crafted to build upon the previous, we embark on a progressive learning adventure, ensuring a comprehensive grasp of the subject matter. Students will be encouraged to post on related topics, give feedback on their peers, and take an ownership role in their learning experience. Mr. Valdez loves being able to collaborate with students and will have weekly asynchronous check ins. Throughout the week additional curated content via EdPuzzle ||| Week 1: Vectors and Scalars ||| Objective: Students will differentiate between vectors and scalars and apply this understanding to real-world scenarios. NGSS Alignment: HS-PS2-4. Use mathematical representations of phenomena to describe explanations. ||| Week 2: Unit Conversions ||| Objective: Students will master unit conversions within the metric system and between metric and imperial systems. NGSS Alignment: HS-PS2-1. Analyze data. ||| Week 3: Distance and Displacement ||| Objective: Students will differentiate between distance and displacement and calculate each in various contexts. NGSS Alignment: HS-PS2-2. Use mathematical representations. ||| Week 4: Speed and Velocity ||| Objective: Students will distinguish between speed and velocity and calculate both using real-life examples. NGSS Alignment: HS-PS2-3. Apply scientific and engineering ideas to design, evaluate, and refine a device. ||| Week 5: Acceleration ||| Objective: Students will understand the concept of acceleration and its calculation in various motions. NGSS Alignment: HS-PS2-4. Use mathematical representations of phenomena to describe explanations. ||| Week 6: Newton's 1st Law ||| Objective: Students will explore Newton's 1st Law of Motion and its implications in everyday life and technology. NGSS Alignment: HS-PS2-1. Analyze data to support the claim that Newton’s second law of motion describes the mathematical relationship among the net force on a macroscopic object, its mass, and its acceleration. ||| Week 7: Newton's 2nd Law ||| Objective: Students will delve into Newton's 2nd Law of Motion, focusing on its formula and applications. NGSS Alignment: HS-PS2-1. Analyze data to support the claim that Newton’s second law of motion describes the mathematical relationship among the net force on a macroscopic object, its mass, and its acceleration. ||| Week 8: Newton's 3rd Law ||| Objective: Students will understand and apply Newton's 3rd Law of Motion to various phenomena.
