課堂經歷
In this class, learners will be guided through a Dungeons and Dragons adventure, with me as the Dungeon Master. The environment I provide will be welcoming to seasoned players, as well as players just starting out. The first session will be a character building session, where students can tell me their characters backstories, answer some questions I will have about their characters goals/personality, and I will be available to help with any questions regarding the stat sheets. They will build and keep track of their characters using a website called "dndbeyond," which assists with building a character without having to dig through the player handbook. The next nine sessions will be where the adventure happens. Learners, as their characters, will be sent on a quest and given a chance to navigate a virtual world that I have custom build on the website, "roll20." On their adventure, learners will be presented with puzzles, battles, friends, and foes. Each session will contain an encounter, interaction with their environment and NPCs, and a prize that their characters can attain. Additionally, I will use what they have given me about their characters backstory to provide a customized story experience for each child. We will be meeting once a week for a two hour session. Learners will be asked to be ready with their character sheet on dndbeyond and the campaign itself on roll20 already pulled up. Then, they will use roll20 to navigate their avatars through whatever setting their characters are in at the moment, helping them judge distance and location of their character in relation to other characters and their surroundings. Whenever they seek to perform an action, they will have to roll the dice to determine the outcome, using their character sheet to add any relevant bonuses or penalties. Much of the game will involve learners talking and planning amongst themselves, but I will be there to guide and monitor them, as well as to provide descriptions of the environment and interactions with NPCs or the setting. Breakdown of the class: Week 1: Character building/introductions Week 2: Starting off on their quest Weeks 3 through 18: Visiting various parts of the adventure and taking turns exploring each characters' backstory Week 19: The final battle/conflict resolution/climax Week 20: the celebratory wrap-up, where each characters get their ending, be it happy or tragic

Through playing and enjoying this game, students will practice skills such as typing, mathematics (quickly adding, subtracting, multiplying, etc), creative writing, navigating spreadsheet-like character sheets, teamwork, social interaction, problem-solving skills, logic, and character development. And none of it will feel like work!

父母的引導和規範
There will be combat involved in the game, which means that death of creatures/characters and moderate blood/violence may be described. There will be no images of blood/violence, and descriptions will be kept PG13.
In most tabletop games, it is an option to seduce other characters. However, NO seduction or sexual implications/acts will be allowed in this game. I will, however, permit players to flatter or flirt with other characters in game. There will be NO hands-on contact described outside of combat, and descriptions of charmed characters will be limited to, 'the character is charmed, bats their eyes at you and smiles, and is willing to help you on your quest or answer any questions you have.'

My name is Crystal, and I teach art, creative writing, and tabletop role playing. My first teaching job began in 2015 at a preschool, where I was the head of the after school program and summer program for children ages five to twelve. In 2018, I began teaching art at a private school for grades K through 8th. I have since taught at an art gallery, a kids' college summer program, and have also done private lessons. I am currently in the process of illustrating a series of children's books titled "Dreamland Critter Adventures," as well as writing my own YA novels. I have experience beta reading and editing original stories and fanfiction written by children between the ages of 9 to 17.
I believe that the skill of an artist (whether a visual artist or an author) isn't measured by their work in and of itself, but by the rate at which they are willing to improve.
Teaching art and creative writing is such a joy because I not only get to experience the wonderful creativity of others in action, but I also have the chance to provide my students with tools that they can take and use as they see fit. My goal is not to show students how to do what I do, but rather to teach them concepts and methods they can use throughout their artistic endeavors.評論
