We will learn how to make a character, using Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition. Some familiarity with the rules is helpful, but not required. The skills learned in this course can also translate into how to make characters for roleplaying games in general. I will provide a link to a free and official 5th Edition sheet and a public version of the rules. I have been the game master for two groups that usually meet once a week for a few hours each, that have been consistently meeting for the last three years. I have done a lot of reflection on making and running games, as well as the storytelling and world building that goes into them. I am hoping to share some of my insights and passions, in helping your child learn how to both play and host roleplaying games with friends. I also have previous experience, teaching ages 12-17 where I was a summer camp instructor for two summers. There I taught students how to create levels in computer games, focusing on aspects like storytelling and game design.
