We lean heavily toward real-world playing (along with actual songs), developing listening skills, and having fun! Eventually, a $2 pair of drumsticks or a 97-cent bucket could be a nice optional upgrade. If you have a drum kit, even better! It doesn't matter how fancy the drums are because it's not what you hit, it's when you hit it.
