This class will teach basic drawing utilizing pencils, crayons, and markers and paper. I will teach students how to draw step by step, lines will be introduced, doodling, still life and observational drawings. Week 1- Introduction for all students. Read Aloud Harold Purple Crayon and make a drawing with the color purple crayon. Week 2- Learn all types of different lines with markers and pencils and crayons. Make an abstract Doodle using all different kinds of lines and shapes. Week 3- Learn How to Draw Step by Step making various animals with instructions and guided demonstrations led by the instructor. Week 4- Learn how to draw a monster from Maurice Sendak Where the Wild Things Are. Read Aloud the book and then make a step by step drawing. Week 5- Make a still life drawing of an everyday object around your living space and an observational drawing of your house or apartment building using pencils, crayons, and/or markers. Week 6- Degas Dancers- Read Story about Degas and then create sketch.

Hi! My name is Ann Denham and I teach Visual Arts classes including drawing, painting, sculpture, collage, media, printmaking, and photography.
I have a bachelor's degree in Photojournalism from Western Kentucky University and a Master's Degree in Education from City College of New York. I taught visual arts in New York City Public Schools for 8 years. I have worked at newspapers in the U.S. and continue to work on documentary projects along with taking portraits and weddings.
I believe everyone can learn and believe in everyone receiving a well rounded education.

My passion in life is creativity and I also love to kayak and have two bichons, Bailey and Bella.
