In this camp, we will meet once a day for four days to explore the basics of drawing anime and manga style bodies. The breakdown for each day is listed below. Each day will include instruction from the teacher, time for students to practice and experiment with the material, and time to share student work at the end of class. Students are encouraged, but not required, to share their drawings. 

Day 1: Bodies. On day 1, we will introduce ourselves and talk about our favorite anime & manga. Then we will learn the basics of drawing a body in anime style. We will start by sketching a basic outline to get the right proportions. Then we will fill in the body with basic shapes such as circles and cylinders. Then we will make adjustments to those shapes to create the final body. We will discuss the differences between drawing male and female body types. Students are welcome to customize their character for whatever body type they want to draw. 

Day 2: Hands and Feet. On day 2, we will learn about drawing hands and feet. We will finish the character we started the previous day and draw in their hands and feet. 

Day 3: Action Poses. On day three, we will warm up with gesture drawings. This will introduce students to the basics of capturing movement in dynamic poses. Then we will draw a character step-by-step together in an active pose, utilizing the skills we learned in the gesture drawing exercise, as well as the proportions learned in the previous days.

Day 4: Clothing. On day 4, we will learn how to draw clothing in anime & manga style. First, we will learn how to draw a Japanese school uniform, which includes a short-sleeved shirt, pleated skirt, and sailor collar. Then we will look at how to draw pants. If we have time, we will also look briefly at how to draw shoes. By drawing these outfits, students will learn techniques that can be applied to other styles of clothing as well.
