Pet lovers! In this 5-day camp, you will learn how to draw your own pet's portrait! Turn your dog, cat, rabbit, horse, reptile, fish, or bird into a work of art! Artists with all levels are welcome to join. 

Day 1: Learn/review pencil sketching basics such as: What do the pencil numbers mean? What is a value scale and how to use it? How to shade and blend evenly using different techniques, tools, and pencil pressure. 
Day 2: Developing observation skills - draw what you SEE, not what you THINK you should see. Introduction to the grid technique: What is a grid and how is it useful? 
Day 3: Sketch out your pet's portrait using the grid technique.
Day 4: Begin shading and adding detail to your pet's portrait. Learn techniques for drawing fur, feathers, or scales (dependent on the students' pets). 
Day 5: Tips on drawing eyes realistically, adding nose detail, and adjusting contrast.

Throughout this hands-on course, the teacher encourages students to ask any questions they may have. The teacher will allow many opportunities for each learner to share their work, and will carefully offer guidance, encouragement, and constructive critique as we draw together. Students are also welcome to chat about their pets and even bring them to class! Students might not completely finish their portrait during class time, as every artist works at a different pace. They are encouraged to take their time and continue working on it using the tips and techniques we covered in class.
