In this one-time, guided-discussion class, students will learn how to take care of a pet dog. I have had dogs for my entire life and currently have four. I have had large and small breeds, inside and outside dogs, and adopted and champion-bred. I have spent countless hours carefully researching dog nutrition, training, and breed temperaments. Let’s have fun learning about and discussing dog care. *Students do not have to have a dog to take this class. This class will include such topics as: • Dog supplies • Dangers • Understanding puppyhood • Nutrition • Grooming • Popular breeds with pros & cons • Adding someone to the family with a dog • Training (including home training, service training, and emotional support training.) * This class does not teach you how to train your dog to be a service dog, but I will teach you what kind of training service dogs go through. I can teach you tips to train your dog, and help troubleshoot some training problems. My classroom is supportive and friendly. I encourage participation gently by using my own pets as examples and asking questions that will nurture their confidence. I believe learning should be fun, and communication should be empowering.
