In this class, we will learn about the Great Depression and American History using the book by Janet B. Pascal "What was the Great Depression?" We will explore what caused it, how people lived, and how society and culture changed. Students will learn: Class 1 -Introduction - Chapter 3 - What were the roaring Twenties? The Stock Market Crash of 1929; Banks Fail; Class 2 - Chapter 4-5 - People lost their jobs and homes; Hoovervilles; Food lines and community Class 3 - Chapter 6-7 - How did FDR help? What were the new government programs? How did Eleanor Roosevelt help? Class 4 - Chapter 8 - 9 - What was the dust bowl? How did it change how and where people lived? Class 5 - Chapter 10 - 11 - The beginning of WWII; How different was the country from the beginning of the decade? We will look at the different causes to the great depression and how the government responded. We will take a look at how people lived, how people worked, and how this crisis shaped American Culture.

In this class, we will be learning about how people lost their homes and jobs. Many people did not have a home or enough food to eat. All discussions will be at an age appropriate level.
There may be some Youtube videos that are seen during this class. I will share my screen and learners will not need to access them on their own.
