課堂經歷
During our time together, your learners will participate in an indoor scavenger hunt. Each item to be found during the hunt will in some way link to a historical or cultural fact about Dia de Los Muertos. So, as they gather their items, we will determine its significance and I will share photos, short video clips, or readings to illuminate these connections even more. Learners will have an opportunity to ask questions about the holiday in general, and if they like, how I have participated in celebrations in Nicaragua and Mexico. Dia de Los Muertos is a blend of both Aztec and Catholic religious traditions. In this class, per Outschool policy, we will discuss this celebration in a historical/cultural perspective. I do not identify as Aztec or Catholic, and this class will not have religious connotations.
學習目標
Learners will be able to retrieve items based on images, words, or clues.
Learners will be able to match common household items to a historical/cultural connection to Dia de Los Muertos.
其他詳情
父母的引導和規範
Dia de Los Muertos is a cultural celebration and remembrance of loved ones no longer living. In the countries that celebrate Dia de Los Muertos (I have lived in two of them: Nicaragua and Mexico) it is a joyous time. It is a time to remember people that were important in our family history and our lives. This concept may be a new approach for some learners. I will do my best to explain this during my time with your learner.
As not all children or all families face grief or remembrance in the same manner, please be thoughtful about whether or not your child would appreciate this experience. If they are highly sensitive to or uncomfortable with recognizing loss, this may not be the best class for them.
