Welcome to D&D Oneshot! Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) is a tabletop role-playing game (TTRPG) that is best described as "collaborative storytelling." As a group, the students will create their own characters, decide how/if their characters know each other, and then be put into an engaging situation where they may have to work together to solve problems, complete puzzles, etc, using the characters and the character statistics they have created. This class is experiential, engaging, and immersive. It requires no prior experiences, and is meant to encourage and build skills focusing on career and college-ready skills, such as: -collaboration -critical-thinking -communication -creativity. Plus, some basic numeracy and literacy skills/practice as well. There is no long-term commitment to this class, but each time we do it there will be new characters, new environments, and new stories to build. Not only is this class an excellent introduction to Dungeons and Dragons, but it is a great way to help students learn how to work together in difficult situations.

We will use the Dungeons and Dragons 5e and 2024 rule books (Dungeon Master's Guide and Player's Handbook) as guides for character creation and world-building. Students do not need to have any resources at home as I will have access to everything they will need.
