From the inspiration behind books like Treasure Island to the inspiration for Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean... Pirates have played a big role in our world's history. Many of their stories are legendary! In this class, students will discover some of the secrets and mythic stories of the most famous pirates and sea lore. Topics to be covered: - Edward Teach aka Blackbeard - Blackbeard's Treasure - Anne Bonny - Calico Jack - Captain Kidd - Black Sam Bellamy - Flying Dutchman - Davy Jones We will discuss some of the exciting stories of these famous figures and the lore behind their treasures and sea monsters. Class Structure: 25 minutes - PowerPoint Presentation 5 minutes - Pop Quiz 10 minutes - Discussion Questions
