In this class, students will analyze the short story "The Masque of the Red Death" by Edgar Allan Poe. Students will be asked to read the story prior to class. If they would like, they can create a piece of artwork or writing that describes their feelings about or opinion of the story. In class, they can share these projects as we, as a class, discuss the characterization, plot, and meaning of the story. Students will learn to explore, analyze, and value classic literature pieces. They will learn to express their own critiques verbally and creatively.

Students will need to read or to listen to an audio recording of Edgar Allan Poe's "The Masque of the Red Death" prior to class. As an optional activity, students can create a work of art or writing expressing their opinion of and feelings about the story. They will be allowed to present their work during our classroom discussion.
