This class is perfect for beginners and those looking to broaden their jewelry-making skills and techniques with leather. Upcycled leather is one of my favorite materials to work with to create jewelry. It’s accessible, malleable, forgiving, and you can make it into almost anything! We will begin with details on the tools and materials you need for the projects. Then explore your creativity as you make a bow necklace. Discover how fun crafting jewelry with leather can be while connecting with others, building confidence, and learning new skills. This class is an opportunity for learners new to jewelry making and working with leather. • Beginners are welcome! • Learners are guided step-by-step in this interactive class • A second camera will provide an overhead view of the process

• Learners are encouraged to personalize or modify their projects as they see fit to become fully self-expressed.
• Learners will understand how to use essential jewelry hardware and findings, including pliers, cutters, chains, jump rings, and clasps.
• Learners will think about what types of materials to upcycle to practice resourcefulness and the use of sustainable materials.

I encourage learners to use whatever materials are on hand and available. If you can purchase new materials, you can view some of the suggested materials for this class on my Amazon list: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/1UNQBYP2HGUME?ref_=wl_share Suggested materials: • Chain nose pliers • Wire cutters • Open jump rings (4-6 mm) • Lobster clasps (around 10x5 mm) • Cable chain (around 2x3 mm) • Leather scrap pieces • Printer (for PDF template) • Tacky glue (e.g., UHU all purpose, E6000, Aileen's) or hot glue • Tape (scotch or light masking/painters) • Ballpoint pen and/or white gel pen (for dark leather) • Sharp scissors • Tape measure or ruler Many of these materials are available at your local craft store. You can also find leather to upcycle (from purses, jackets, skirts, etc.) at local thrift shops or in your closet! When selecting metal findings (chains, clasps, and jump rings), choose matching colors such as all bronze, silver, or gold.
