課堂經歷
In this creative ongoing class, we'll make simple snacks and fun crafts using easy-to-find ingredients and supplies. Each week, we will feature a different beginner-friendly recipe and corresponding craft. I specifically chose recipes that are easy, quick, and minimize the use of the oven/stove for younger learners. Learners will follow along with me as I take them step by step through the recipe and craft. Here's what's on the menu: Week of January 31 Recipe: Fruity Yogurt Bark Craft: Paintbrush-less Paintings (a nod to Jackson Pollock) Week of February 7 Recipe: DIY Sanding Sugar Craft: "Sand" Art Jars Week of February 14 Recipe: DIY Hot Cocoa Mix Craft: Pop-up Greeting Card/Valentine Week of February 21 Recipe: Confetti Mug Cupcake Craft: Pom Pom Cupcake Pencil Toppers Week of February 28 Recipe: Edible Cookie Paint Craft: Cookie Decorating using Edible Cookie Paint I will demonstrate and provide detailed explanation as we go through the recipes and crafts. I will ask questions to encourage critical thinking throughout the class as well as answer any questions that arise. Studies have shown that kids are more likely to try new foods and become more adventurous eaters if they are actively involved in preparing the food they eat. The purpose of this class is to not only teach helpful cooking skills that kids will need later in life but to also make cooking a fun and positive experience. This will promote autonomy and confidence in the kitchen and a willingness to try new things. Let's get cooking!

父母的引導和規範
While many cooking skills can be taught through online instruction, parents/guardians are best to determine their child's comfort and skill in the kitchen. My goal is to build upon what they already know...safely. If you have any questions about whether your child's skill level is appropriate for a particular class, don't hesitate to reach out.
*Recipes for this course are designed for younger learners (age 8-11) in mind. However, some will require the use of the microwave (the oven at times) or sharp tools (We will use plastic or butter knives only). Parental guidance is suggested for these portions of the class.
*As you will be responsible for providing ingredients for this class, please be sure to check all food label ingredients for potential allergens.
*Craft supplies will comprise mostly of things you probably have around the house already. Any other supplies can be found at your local supermarket or craft store.
供應清單
I will post the ingredient/supply list in the classroom the Monday before each class.

教師專業知識和證書
Hi there! I'm Priscilla, a former public school teacher and kids cooking instructor with over 20 years of experience in education and instruction.
I teach classes about food and cooking!
I believe kids learn best through authentic experiences, using their senses and natural curiosity to drive exploration. I've seen first hand with my students and my own child how including kids in every day kitchen activities fosters a lifelong love and appreciation for food and cooking.
I also believe that learning should be FUN in order for it to be most effective. In my classes, we go beyond skills and drills with games, stories, taste tests and plenty of opportunities for creative expression. A belly full of freshly prepared food at the end of class doesn't hurt either!
When I'm not teaching, I'm puttering around the kitchen, experimenting with new recipes or ideas or spending time outdoors with my family.
