The students will learn how to do the Staircase checkmate using the two rooks on the chessboard. Their two rooks will work together to control the board by attacking the ranks or files, force the King to the edge of the board, and then to checkmate. The students will learn that there is a pattern to checkmating the King with the two rooks. The teacher will set up a 2-Rook puzzle and the students will call out the moves to master this checkmate. Students will receive chess puzzle homework sheets in a PDF format to be printed out. The chess puzzle homework sheets will be discussed in class to make sure all students understand what to do.0 - 1 每週課外時間

A learner is assessed by understanding the answers on each chess puzzle assignment and knowing how to checkmate to win their games. When a student practices chess at home, with others, or on-line, their skills will increase--this will reflect in their knowledge of the game.提供的成績

If students do not already have a username on lichess.org, a username will be assigned to the students by the teacher.
Lichess.org and ChessKid.com are great, safe resources to access daily Chess Puzzles, to play chess against the computer, or against other chess players around the world. There are videos on the ChessKid.com site that the students can watch, done by Grand Masters, who can really help the students achieve a higher skill level in chess.
