每週 1 小時. Students will receive chess puzzle homework sheets in a PDF format to be printed out. The chess puzzle homework sheets will be discussed in class to make sure all students understand what to do.評估
A learner is assessed by understanding the answers on each chess puzzle assignment and knowing how to checkmate to win their games. When a student practices chess at home, with others, or on-line, their skills will increase--this will reflect in their knowledge of the game.我們無法翻譯此文，請刷新頁面並再試一次。
課堂經歷
The student will learn what it means to put their opponent's King into check (under attack). They will learn the four rules of check--that no King can put himself into a check, no King can move next to another King because he would be putting himself into danger, no piece can move out of the way and expose his own King to danger, and if your King is in check and you touch a piece, that piece must be moved to get the your King out of check. The students will learn the difference between check and checkmate.
學習目標
The students will learn the rules to Check (how to attack their opponent's King) and how to not make illegal moves when doing this. They will learn what it means to checkmate and to see what a win looks like.

If students do not already have a username on lichess.org, a username will be assigned to the students by the teacher.

Students should have a pencil in class and the chess puzzles printed out, which will be attached in a PDF form in the Classroom.

Lichess.org and ChessKid.com are great, safe resources to access daily Chess Puzzles, to play chess against the computer, or against other chess players around the world. There are videos on the ChessKid.com site that the students can watch, done by Grand Masters, who can really help the students achieve a higher skill level in chess.

I have taught children and adults in Beginning and Intermediate 1 Chess classes for 23 years in after school programs, summer Chess Camps, online in my Cool Chess classes and now for Central New York Chess. I love to see how Chess helps the brain to think, to make predictions, to sequence, see patterns, etc. I love to see when a student learns how to checkmate and improves upon their game!
