Travel though time as you explore the lives and music of famous composers. Each week learners will explore a different composer. Learners will be given a listening guide related to the composer’s life and the music. Listening guides will include activities such as word searches, acrostic poems, drawing and more. Learners may choose how they participate, completing the listening guide or merely listening and responding to the music. Each week learners will start with biographical information, presented through PowerPoint. Then learners will listen to musical selections including audio and video examples. During the listening selections, movement, play-along or listening questions will be incorporated to facilitate understanding. After each class learners will be given a link to a Kahoot! Challenge which can be completed independently to review facts about the life and music of the composer. Composers in this course include: August 28 - Palestrina 1525-1594 September 4 - Handel 1685-1759 September 11 - Clementi 1752-1832 September 18 - Kuhlau 1786-1832 September 25 - Rossini 1792-1868 October 2 - Robert Schumann October 9 - Chopin 1810-1846 October 23 - Modest Mussorgsky 1839-1881 October 30 - Edward MacDowell 1860-1908 November 6 - Holst 1874-1934 November 13 - Kodály 1882-1967 November 20 - Grofe 1892-1972 December 4 - Seeger 1901-1953 December 11 - Duke Ellington 1899-1974 December 18 - Bernstein 1918-1990

Hello! My name is Mrs. McArthur and I teach MUSIC! I am a Texas certified all-level music teacher with 29 years of teaching experience, 26 years in public schools and 3 years online and homeschool experience. I have taught preschool through eighth grade General Music and Choir classes. I received a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education with an emphasis in vocal music from Oklahoma Baptist University.
I believe that every learner can make music! Learners need a variety of experiences to learn music skills, including visual, aural and kinesthetic. Given sequential steps, students can achieve well beyond the expectations. When creativity is modeled, learners discover that making mistakes improves music. Learners need opportunities to be creative with choices so they can create on their own terms and interests. By making connections to science, social studies, math and beyond, students learn that subjects don’t exist in isolation. Music is the universal language and learners deserve a chance to explore the world through a musical lens!評論
