Students in the class will work side by side with the teacher to learn how to code characters in code.org. Each class will focus on a coding concept which included sequences, loops and events. Class 1- We will do a whole group activity, working to figure out how the dog Boomer gets to the house, teaching about sequences using a google slideshow while the kids participate by annotating on the screen. Students will learn to sequence when coding. Students will learn to use loops in coding. Students will learn to use events in coding. Students will put skills together to create their own game (with characters already created in activity)

Students will not need additional supplies to complete the activity. It may be easier for student to have a second device to code on while we work in class together. Code.org works on desktops, laptops, tablets, ipads and smartphones.

The class uses code.org which is a third-party website. Code.org was specifically created for kids to build their coding skills and is offered to educators to help students grow. The site does not ask for any personal information from learners and works best when the child has an account to save progress and creations.
