At the start of this class, all of the students will have a chance to share their name and any short story about experience they have with tying knots. I will then follow with some questions such as: "Why is learning knot tying an important skill?", "In what ways are you going to use this skill in your daily life". In the bulk of the class, students will learn these 3 knots: the square knot, bowline, and the sheet bend. I have a top down camera that I add to the classroom in order to most...

I learned and taught knot tying in college, then again as a Class A Volunteer Interior Firefighter, and also as the Assistant Camp Director.
- 2 x 1\2 inch or 1 inch in diameter (or close to that size) several feet long ropes - Something to tie the knots to (this could be the student's arm)
