Beginner 等級
In this hands-on course, students will embark on a thrilling journey through the fascinating world of chemistry and physics. Through a series of engaging experiments and activities, students will explore the differences between physical and chemical changes, uncover the secrets of slime, create mesmerizing lava lamps, test cabbage pH indicators, and witness the explosive reaction between Coke and Mentos. Students will be documenting their experiments in a science notebook and after practicing, they learn to modify their experiment for different results. This is an adventure filled with bubbling potions, colorful concoctions, and lots of learning!

超過 5 週單位 1: Chemical Changes
課 1:
pH - Learning Acids & Bases
Making an Indicator from red cabbage and Determining pH levels based on color change
課 2:
Explosions!
We start with a basic reaction of a base and acid, then learn about accelerants in the mentos coke experiment. Students can also try elephant toothpaste. You'll want to go outside for this one!
單位 2: Physical Change
課 3:
Making Slime
Many kids can make slime, but do they know what's happening chemically? This is what we will learn as we experiment scientifically with different recipes and ratios.
課 4:
DIY Lava Lamp
In this lesson, students create a simple lavalamp and will have to identify the physical change and smaller chemical change. We will also play with variables and steps to see what makes the most effective lava lamp.

學習需求
This class is well paced and keeps students engaged.
父母的引導和規範
Although most experiments are easy enough for students to conduct safely, parents should be in a supervisory role. Students are apprised of cleaning up before and after experiments, but parents may need to remind students to tidy up after experiments and take precautions for messes.
