課堂經歷

Welcome to Duet Building on the Cello! In this class, you will take your cello skills to the next level by learning to play first and second cello parts and become your own duet partner.

Your kind and enthusiastic teacher, who has extensive experience in teaching intermediate and lower advanced musicians, will guide you through the process of learning both parts of a duet using songs from "Beautiful Music for Two String Instruments, Bk 2: 2 Cellos"

In this class, you will not only master intonation and rhythm but also learn to play along with each other in class and with friends or siblings at home. We encourage friends and siblings to join the class and make beautiful music together!

Over the course of four weeks, we will dive into the techniques necessary to play both parts of a duet. We will start by learning the melody, using sheet music and ear training, and practicing correct bowing styles with repeated notes. Then, we will focus on practicing challenging sections for intonation and will practice clapping and speaking the rhythms.

Each week, you will gain valuable performance experience with the opportunity to perform either the first or second cello part for the class. At the end of the class, you can send a recording of both parts to your teacher by posting files in the Outschool classroom or sending through Outschool messages. Your teacher will create a mixed recording of you as your own duet partner and send the file it back to you as your final product! You'll be able to share your duet with family and friends near and far.

Join us for an exciting four-week journey of learning, playing, and growing as a cellist. Let's work together to build your duet-playing skills and make beautiful music together!
