It is helpful for students to be familiar with key terms such as "Hispanic," Nobel Prize, nuclear-free, indigenous, O-zone, folk art, surrealism, feminism, performance art, human rights, Afro-Latino, segregation, and activist, but not required.  These topics will be briefly discussed during class.

Learners may also need assistance putting together their books, and with final research presentations which can be in the form of a written report, science or art project or perfomance/skit.
