課堂經歷
Students will learn teamwork, collaborative storytelling, improvisation and practice basic math and problem-solving skills through the lens of an exciting and engaging game of Dungeons and Dragons controlling pre-made characters through an engaging dungeon. Some basic knowledge of Dungeons and Dragons is helpful, but not required to participate in this class. Certain optional rules will be used during play and explained to the class as they occur. Homework will consist of work on character backgrounds, leveling up, and time thinking about in-game puzzles during off periods. Only the former two will be directly assigned, but doing the latter will leave more time for progressing the story of the game during class time. Evaluation, if requested, will be based on how well the students come together to face dynamic, unexpected, situations. Are they willing to make decisions for their characters? Do they know what their characters are capable of? Are they able to work with their fellow students to overcome obstacles? Are they willing to inhabit the roles of their characters and enjoy the fun of improvisation together?
