課堂經歷
In this class you will continue to learn the basics of bucket drumming. We will explore the different types of sounds that can be created by hitting various areas of the bucket, proper playing technique, as well as how to read and play rhythms. This class will be structured as an interactive drum circle. Students will be playing for nearly the entire class time. A few breaks will be scheduled in so students can rest their hands, ask questions, and discuss what we have played. I will teach by...
Students will read standard notation of rhythms (quarter note, half note, eighth note, sixteenth notes, and rests). Students will vocalize, perform, or otherwise demonstrate rhythm reading through performing written and spoken rhythms. Students will explore different sounds on the bucket. Students will create their own rhythms using what we have learned in class. Students will gain confidence in performing by themselves in front of other people.
提供的家庭作業
- One bucket/trashcan. (Preferably a one gallon bucket, but any bucket/trashcan will do) - Two drum sticks. These can be actual drumsticks or wooden dowel rods from a craft store. You could even use the handles of wooden spoons or rulers. These "drum sticks" will preferably be about 1/2 in by 12 inches. You can find drumsticks on Amazon that will work well and usually cost around $7-9, or a local craft store should have some dowel rods that would work.提供的評估
I assess learner progress primarily through the drum circle performance at the end of class as well as their playing of notated and spoken rhythms throughout the class. The questions I ask to assess if a student is learning in this class are: Are they engaging with the music? (playing along, clapping, moving, singing, etc) Are they reading, vocalizing, or otherwise demonstrating rhythms written? (Playing it, talking in that rhythm, clapping it, etc) Are they demonstrating different sounds on the bucket? (exploring different areas of playing on the bucket, finding new ways to play the bucket, etc).提供的成績
