Students will be given several formal writing assignments throughout the semester. While these are not tests, per se, they can be used as assessment pieces for homeschooling evidence, which many states and countries require. All formal writing in my class will be completed with multiple rounds of written and verbal feedback. Students will have the opportunity to work through their writing skills as a group and 1-1 with me in class!等級
Grading - Students will have the opportunity to receive a grade in the form of their choosing.I am happy to provide a grade in the form of a percentage, letter, or both. I can also offer a formal letter for submission to state programs. I ask students throughout the semester about their needs for grading and am happy to work with parents to create a plan that meets their needs! Please note that Grading is NOT required.我們無法翻譯此文,請刷新頁面並再試一次。

Come read Brave New World with us as we debate the controversies of the dystopian world and its applications to modern life. Brave New World is set in our modern world's 2540 CE, known as AF 632, or After Ford. Henry Ford's revolutionary assembly line invention is worshipped as a god-like being in the World State. Science and ingenuity dominate the world where human happiness and content is paramount and is achieved through great scientific discoveries: Children are created outside the womb and cloned in order to increase the population, "everyone belongs to everyone else", and where citizens are sorted as embryos to be of a certain class. While the Alphas and Betas are the dominant rulers, Gammas, Deltas, and Epsilons do the hard labor and common menial jobs. In the novel, we will explore the lives of Lenina and Bernard as they travel to a "savage reservation" and where their perceptions will change forever.

- Students will engage in discussions and debates with one another as we explore more than just reading comprehension but also the complex decisions the author makes and its cultural and historical connections to the time period.
