This is an English Reading Book Club for students who are developing their love of reading, writing, thinking and sharing their ideas. This class is aimed at beginner readers to broaden their vocabulary, improve recognition of words, develop phonics and handwriting too. Learners will develop their reading fluency, comprehension skills including knowledge of phonics, vocabulary, guessing meaning of words from context, sharing ideas and developing communication skills. Which books will be covered? Week Beginning 3/2/25 – Animal Magic Week Beginning 10/2/25 – Our Class Tiger Week Beginning 17/2/25 – Tiger’s Discovery Week Beginning 24/2/25 – Hide and Cheat Week Beginning 3/3/25 – Toad Swims for his Life Week Beginning 10/3/25 – Jamie and the Chameleon Week Beginning 17/3/25 – The Bully Week Beginning 24/3/25 – Plughole Week Beginning 31/3/25 – Roman Adventure Week Beginning 7/4/25 – Extinct Giants Week Beginning 14/4/25 – The Portrait Problem Week Beginning 21/4/25 – Finding Things Week Beginning 28/4/25 – Astron Week Beginning 5/5/25 – Super Coldo Week Beginning 12/5/25 – Machine Poems Week Beginning 19/5/25 – Attack of the Chomping Nibblers Week Beginning 26/5/25 – Bug Alert Week Beginning 2/6/25 – Magic Tricks Week Beginning 9/6/25 – Look Closer Week Beginning 16/6/25 – Submarine Adventure Week Beginning 23/6/25 – The Big Breakfast Week Beginning 30/6/25 – Red Planet Week Beginning 7/7/25 – Rumpelstiltskin Week Beginning 14/7/25 – Things That Sting Learners will be encouraged to move to Level 8 after completing these books. We will return to the beginning and repeat these books when we have completed all of them. Each week will include vocabulary, comprehension and input. Learners will be encouraged to share their ideas in a variety of ways in class. Please note, this is an English language class. Our own material are used to teach learners language including, phonics, vocabulary, grammar, comprehension, fluency and writing skills.
