In this ongoing book club, learners will read and discuss a classic book each week developing their comprehension, vocabulary, spelling and more! Discover a love for reading together! ESL friendly. Week of 2/9/24 - Heidi Week of 9/9/24 - Winnie the Pooh Week of 16/9/24 - The Adventures of Tom Sawyer Week of 23/9/24 - The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe Week of 30/9/24 - The Secret Garden Week of 7/10/24 - The Wind in the Willows Week of 14/10/24 - Little Women Week of 21/10/24 - Pippi Longstocking Week of 28/10/24 - Matilda Week of 4/11/24 - The Jungle Book Week of 11/11/24 - Alice in Wonderland Week of 18/11/24 - A Christmas Carol Week of 25/11/24 - The Little Prince Week of 2/12/24 - Peter Pan Week of 9/12/24 - Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Week of 16/12/24 - Anne of Green Gables Week of 23/12/24 - Treasure Island Week of 30/12/24 - The Railway Children Week of 6/1/25 - Mary Poppins Week of 13/1/25 - The Swiss Family Robinson Week of 20/1/25 - The Borrowers Week of 27/1/25 - Pinocchio Further classes will be added. Learners can join the class at any point. This is an ongoing course so each class stands alone. We focus on a different theme from the books each week whilst developing comprehension skills, grammar, vocabulary, reading and writing. Learners can join the class no matter how much of the series they have read. Each week will include a range of teaching activities including reading out loud, videos, discussions, activity sheets, Q+A, slides and more. Please note, this is an English language class to develop comprehension and vocabulary. This is not a 'read along' class. Our own materials are used to teach learners during this course. The focus of the classes is to develop language including, phonics, vocabulary, grammar, comprehension, fluency and writing skills.
