課堂經歷
Students will learn by direct instruction while viewing a PowerPoint presentation with text, pictures and embedded videos. Topics covered include 20th century popular music styles, rock and roll "prehistory" samples of artists and their works, 1950's instruments and technology, and rock covers. Students will have opportunity to share their experiences and interact with each other along the way. A few surprises are thrown in for good measure.
I grew up listening to and playing rock and roll in the 1950's and 1960's so I remember this period well. Throughout the years I have played in various cover bands, jazz ensembles, musical theater, and more. I really want to share my experience with a new generation of musical artists and aficionados.
A PDF of the PowerPoint used for instruction will be made available at the conclusion of the class. No additional materials are required.

Parental Guidance: The topic of race relations in the United States might come up but will be handled gently with this age group. It will become obvious that the musical roots of rock and roll came from different parts of the country. Rock and roll will be portrayed as a positive influence that helped bring the country together.
