Welcome to Beginning Readers: Short Vowel sounds! Throughout our time together your learner will focus on strengthening  their reading skills. Skills include phonemic awareness, decoding, fluency, comprehension, and any other skills deemed necessary for success. Miss Katelynn uses the Science of Reading methods. We will talk about heart words, discuss how many sounds are in words, map words, blend sounds, and more. This class is designed for learners who are working on reading CVC words and practicing short vowel sounds. 

Each class will follow the same format:
Welcome
Phonemic awareness warm up (rhyming, blending, segmenting)
Practice the vowel sound of the week and sound fluency
Sight word and word work mapping
Read a short story
Dictation writing if time allows
