In this course, we will gain an introductory level understanding of acoustic guitar and how it works. Topics Covered and Reiterated Throughout The Course: 1. Basic Guitar Components - Parts of the guitar and their function 2. Tuning Your Guitar - Standard guitar tuning of E A D G B e 3. Your First 4 Chords 4. Your First Song - Chords and Strum for Sweet Home Alabama by Lynyrd Skynyrd 5. End of Course Performance - Each learner will have a chance to perform the song we worked on throughout the course Each class will be conversational in nature but focused on the primary understanding of how to play guitar chords and make the guitar sound pleasing to the ear. Questions will be welcome during class and each student will get equal share of attention from the teacher. Layout of each lesson: Week 1 - (3 minutes) Brief Introductions (10 minutes) Parts of the guitar and their function (12 minutes) Tuning your guitar (5 minutes) Questions before ending class Week 2 - (5 minutes) Recap last week with questions from learners (20 minutes) Learning first 4 chords and giving each learner the opportunity to play them to ensure clarity of the chord (5 minutes) Questions before ending class Week 3 - (5 minutes) Recap last week with questions from learners (20 minutes) Walking through strumming pattern and chord structure for Sweet Home Alabama and giving each learner the opportunity to play to ensure understanding and clarity of the strum/chord combo (5 minutes) Questions before ending class Week 4 - (5 minutes) Recap last week with questions from learners (20 minutes) Each student will perform Sweet Home Alabama to the best of their ability and to the encouragement of the teacher and students. (5 minutes) Questions and "What's Next" Conversation Every lesson will be accompanied by a short recap/practice video for each learner to utilize throughout the week. Please be sure to have access to an acoustic guitar for lessons and practice during the week. Without which, these lessons will be much less effective for your student.

The goal is always to gain more understanding about the guitar with each week. Every student learns at a different pace, so growth for one will look different for another. We will be focusing on the growth of the individual, not the group. Students will be able to tune guitar, play 4 chords, and begin to make music with their instrument by the end of this 4 week course.

Hi everyone! My name is Craig Stutzman and I have been teaching acoustic and electric guitar for over 20 years. It brings me joy to see people's faces when the lesson clicks and they get excited about what they can do. My personal philosophy about teaching guitar is that everyone is capable of learning how to play. (Even those who think rhythm is something beyond them) :) With the right guidance, encouragement, and practice, you can become a guitar player too! I will guide you with confidence and patience as we work together to learn chords, songs, and a little bit of why those go together!
Random Fun Fact About Me: I am able to hear a song and, without looking up the chords, figure it out within a couple minutes. It's a nice little party trick. Haha!評論
