This class is an introduction to horsemanship. It is designed to be a fun way to start learning about horses, and also meet others who share the same interest! There is no previous knowledge required. It will cover what a new equestrian needs to know before handling a horse, such as: -Horse anatomy (Basic parts & skeletal structure). -Horse behavior (What do their eyes, nose, and ears tell us?) -Grooming tools & how they’re used (Curry comb, brush, hoof pick). -Natural horsemanship techniques (Method for working with a horse from the ground. How to put on a halter & lead rope. Safety around horses.) The class structure will be informative, with Google Slides (power point), pictures, and video clips. There will also be pauses throughout the lesson for interactive discussions and for students to ask questions. Notes will be shared at the end for learners to review if they want to study.

Students will learn: The basic anatomy of a horse. How to read a horse based on physical cues. How to properly groom a horse with the different brushes. How to safely work with a horse on the ground.

Google Slides will be used for instruction during class. I will share the link to these notes in the classroom at the end of our meeting. Anyone with the link can view, so no account is needed to access it. All learners can review it again afterwards to help further their learning. :)

About Me:
I have always been passionate about teaching and helping others. I was that kid who asked for a whiteboard and overhead projector for Christmas, and played “school” with my little sister. I have a student-lead teaching philosophy, so I adjust my pacing and depth of content to meet their needs. My main focus is to create a safe and positive learning environment, where students feel confident to ask questions. I have a Masters degree in Teaching from Piedmont College, and I am certified in all secondary broadfield sciences (Physics, Biology, Chemistry). My undergraduate degree from The University of Georgia is in Animal Science, with an Emphasis in Equine Management.
Classes I teach:
Equine Science (all ages) I have a bachelors degree from the University of Georgia in Animal Science, along with hands-on experience training and caring for horses. Specific topics include basic horse care, behavior, nutrition, anatomy, management, training, and riding.
High-School Conceptual Physics (ages 13-18) I have three years of experience professionally teaching Physics. I will explain the concepts and equations, then relate it to a real-world scenario to help students understand. Topics include: 1 and 2-Dimensional Motion, Projectiles, Free-Fall, Circular Motion, Newton’s Laws, Energy, Electricity, Circuits, Magnetism, Waves, Sound, & Light.
DIY Projects - I enjoy creating and building things! I have been woodworking for the past 3 years. I teach fun educational projects for ages 3-10, to learn colors, numbers, and science topics. I also teach DIY Projects for ages 11-18, to make their own home decorations, cute wall signs, and furniture.評論
