Let's become better writers!  "Be You and Become a Better Writer" classes are designed to help learners improve their writing and express their individuality with the support and guidance of a K-12 certified English teacher. 

In this 4-day camp, we will learn how to write personal narratives that are entertaining and engaging. Learners will learn how to turn their experiences into captivating stories rather than just retelling events in order.  

This class will meet for 4 days. The first three days will focus on lessons for narrative writing strategies to use in answering a writing prompt related to a personal experience (for example: write about a time you discovered something new). Learners will learn how to write about the experience they choose as if they were telling a story rather than retelling events that happened.  Lessons will be given via Google slide presentation and include continual class participation. Learners will be shown how to brainstorm ideas and organize their stories and will have about 10 minutes in class of independent writing time. Writing assignments will be completed on a personal Google slide link the learner will receive before the course begins that the learner will type on or can print out to handwrite. The teacher will be giving 1-on-1 feedback on their story related to revising and editing each day in class while their peers work on their writing. On day 4, learners will put their stories into a creative digital journal and share them with the class!

Day 3: 
~ Be Better At: Dialogue Tags
~ Prompt and example given
~ Independent writing: Write draft 
~ 1-1 feedback given on previous day's assignment

Day 4: 
~ How to create a digital journal 
~ 1-1 feedback given on draft
~ Work on journal
~ Share entry with class

*"Be You and Become a Better Writer: Personal Narratives 2" can be completed before this course.

**The course can be used for learners participating in a homeschool POD or cohort. They can sign up to take the class together for supplemental writing instruction. If you have a group of 2 or more enroll, each learner will get the first class FREE!
