Each of the 5 classes will follow this structure: Section 1: Creative Movement warm up. Section 2: Learning a Body Part: Students will be able o identify various body parts and their movements. We will focus on 1 body part per class. I will explain to students how that body part operates in ballet. When students have displayed understanding of one body part theoretically and practically, we will then move on to another body part. Throughout class, I will refer to and highlight that body...
Students will able able to: - execute basic locomotor skills, -perform basic ballet movements, replicate and recall movements and patterns. ******ADOPTED FROM THE NEW YORK CITY BLUEPRINT FOR DANCE STANDARDS******
I'm a New York State Certified Dance Educator with a Masters in Dance Pedagogy from NYU. I currently work as a full time middle school dance educator in NYC. I'm offering this class because I love ballet, and I love to see students grow in this art. I am also still a student of this technique so I know what it is to approach this on a pedagogical level, while not being too far removed from being a student of the technique.
The creative portion of this class is meant to develop the executive functions of your child's brain which includes decision making and problem solving.
Chair- Chair is necessary for 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th class Please make sure the space is safe and secure for movement. *****If your learner is wearing a leotard, please make sure there are also wearing shorts, or a skirt with tights/shorts *****Do your best to make sure the camera is set in a way that I can see most (as much as possible) of your child's body. Please ensure, the camera is NOT pointed below the waist. Optional: Ballet Slippers Crown, Gown, Wand, Princess Jewelry, tutu, any other princess props.
***SAFETY***Parents, please be sure the space your ballerina will be dancing in is free from large objects they can bump into. Also, please make sure the floor is swept so students are not slipping on small objects. ***SAFETY***
