We will start by putting our aprons on and briefly introducing ourselves, finding out what the students already know about our beautiful British Isles. We will take a look at a map to locate the four countries that make up the UK. We will discuss the history of some of our British Christmas traditions, including the food we eat at this special time and the decorations we put up. We will mix the ingredients to make the batter for the puddings, and put it into small basins or mugs to be...
Students will be able to make Christmas Pudding using a traditional British recipe. They will know the four regions of the British Isles, will recognise the Union Jack flag, and know a few facts about the traditions behind our British Christmas celebrations.

Ingredients butter plain/all purpose flour dried fruit (eg raisins, currants, sultanas) nuts eg almonds, walnuts(optional) dates candied peel glace cherries orange juice mixed spice brown sugar breadcrumbs egg molasses/black treacle There are lots of different fruits in this pudding. If you can't get glace cherries or candied peel, you can always add extra dried fruit instead.
As this is a baking class, it is essential a parent is on hand to assist with baking the puddings. If your child has a wheat or egg allergy, this class will not be suitable for them. If they have a nut or butter allergy, it is possible to omit the nuts and to use a dairy-free alternative - the pudding will still be fine!
