In this fun one-time class students will bring any coloring pages they would like to use and color them while socializing with their autistic peers. I will be guiding the conversation to keep it fun and interesting but I will keep it as student lead a possible in order to promote independent socialization. I will have a list of discussion questions ready to keep the conversation moving if needed. Questions may vary but may include: What is your special interest? I will explain what special...
I am an autistic adult who has been working with autistic children for over 5 years. I have my associate's degree in special education and am passionate about teaching children about autism and how to support their autistic peers. Every autistic person is different so it is important to add that aside from my own experience as an autistic adult I have worked with over 500 autistic children (ages 2-18), both in-person and online, all of whom are in different places on the spectrum and have unique strengths and challenges.
Students will need to have coloring pages and coloring supplies.
