In this one-time class, we will create our own miniature town by drawing and/or creating paper cut-outs of landscapes and buildings. This particular class and project is inspired by those FUN city rugs many of us used to play on as kids! Only this time, WE get to customize our OWN town! For this beginner course, we will stick to creating flat or 2D models of outdoor scenery and buildings. Students may choose to (1) draw OR (2) cut out and glue crafting materials. Students will work on their fine motor skills, creativity, craftsmanship, critical thinking, problem-solving, time-management, artistic confidence, etc.
- Blank printing paper, cardstock paper, or poster board. - Drawing tool(s): pencil, eraser, pen, and/or black marker. - Coloring markers or pencils. **EXTRA (if available at home or if student wants to use for his/her project): - Colored cardstock, construction paper, or thin cardboard. - A pair of children's scissors, glue (stick and/or liquid), clear tape, ruler. - Any small miscellaneous craft material, such as: pom pom balls, pipe cleaners, modeling clay, etc.
- Students might need parental supervision while using scissors. - Level of project completion will differ, depending on each learner's choice of materials, work pace, and skill.
