In this course, I will give help and review sessions for students taking the AP Psychology Exam on May 3rd. My hope for this course is that students that join will communicate in the class conversation board about what topics they might need extra help in, the unit you are currently working on in your school, anything that was not clear that you've learned before, or whatever else you may need. If students don't have any suggestions on topics needed to be covered in a particular meeting, I will have a lesson prepared that covers one topic of the AP Psychology course that I think is especially necessary for the exam. If students want, they may ask questions about the unit they are currently working in and obtain extra help for unit exams in class. With this dual focus, I believe students will be able to come together from different contexts and learn more so that they can vastly improve their chances of obtaining college credit on the AP Psychology Exam in May. Since this may be difficult with a larger class, I have capped the number of students in any particular meeting at ten. As students communicate on the class conversation board, I will prepare short review modules for each topic and possibly an assignment if the topic allows for one. My teaching style is very engaging, using a large amount of student interaction and student-produced examples. Students are often asked to give self-references to concepts in order to enhance memory retrieval with important concepts. Students will be able to interact with each other and with me throughout the class. Students joining this course should either already be part of an AP Psychology course or be actively self-studying in order to take the AP Psychology Exam. I will make sure that content is presented as if it were the students' first time learning the information, so as to accommodate for students who may be learning the AP Psychology units in a different order than others. In order to reference a particular topic and ask it to be covered in a meeting, it may help to reference the topic number from the AP Psychology Course & Exam Description (CED). You may find that at the link below in the "Course At A Glance" section (pages 26-29 on the PDF, pages 19-22 if you are looking at the document's numbering). Topics are also covered in more detail in the unit guides throughout the document: https://apcentral.collegeboard.org/pdf/ap-psychology-course-and-exam-description.pdf?course=ap-psychology In the event that students do not give suggestions of topics to cover in these meetings, here is a schedule of topics that I will prepare for the first four weeks of meetings: Week of October 3 - Topic 3.2: Principles of Perception Week of October 10 - Topic 3.5: Auditory Sensation & Perception Week of October 17 - Topic 4.2: Classical Conditioning Week of October 24 - Topic 4.3: Operant Conditioning

Some sensitive topics may be covered when discussing concepts in AP Psychology, but they will be handled in a way that is both age-appropriate and ideologically balanced. I have been teaching AP classes for 5 years and I have 7 years of teaching experience in both psychology and world history, which has trained me to approach sensitive topics in an empathetic, highly understanding way.
