In this class, students will learn the parts of a "friendly letter" and compose one.  They will be able to complete a "thank you" letter or a letter to say "hello."   I will present slides showing sample friendly letters with the main parts outlined --(heading, date, greeting, body, closing, and the signature).  There will be no personal addresses on their letters.  They will only use the generic one that I post from the slides.  All of the other work will be their own creation based on the guidelines.  I will also show them how to address an envelope. The addresses on the envelope will be generic, as well.  They can use their work from class, as samples, if they want to compose  a real one for mailing.   Time will be permitted for them to share their letter, if they wish.  Learner will need paper, pencil, and an envelope.
