Throughout American history, there have been many people who's story has become that of legends, used to motivate and inspire new generations. In this class, we will take a look at the life, education, and the adventures of Annie Oakley. This class will consist of a powerpoint presentation that will include a detailed look at her childhood, education, travels, and how she broke down barriers in a male-dominated sport. We will examine her life in Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show, and how the public viewed her. We will explore how her story has been retold in movies and plays, and why certain parts of her story have been romanticized or changed. We will also explore why the world was fascinated by the concept of the "wild west" and how Annie's shows perpetuated and encouraged that image. This class will be presented in 3 short lesson videos posted Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Each lesson video will be accompanied by different crafts, activities, and worksheets. Students are encouraged to share (on the Outschool classroom) their opinions of different aspects of the story/cartoon/movie, but it is not required.
學習目標
Learners will learn the about Annie Oakleys early life, her life in show business, and discuss the impact of the mythology of the Wild West on American History.
