Join us as we paint using photo realism. The goal is to create a painting that looks like nature itself. I will share a brief video clip of our painting topic for the day and learn the topic's name in Latin. I will paint step by step and have the student follow along with me. Do as I do. I give tips along the way and just like in nature, no painting has to be perfect. In fact, imperfect paintings represent nature itself! Each week will have a different painting topic. For each class, I will paint on 1/4 of a poster board from the dollar store. I buy one poster board and cut it in half and then in half again. No Painting Experience Necessary! Students may join or leave at any time. During the course of each class, I show students how to brainstorm, plan for our drawing, sketch lightly, and then we paint our painting. Students should be about 2/3 of the way done with their painting at the end of each class. This is a 40 minute class, so this allows students to continue fine-tuning their paintings after class has finished. (I'm okay with students changing the color to use what they have) Paint brushes mostly small Plastic trash bag for covering paint area white posterboard, White cardboard, heavy drawing paper, or canvas LARGER than 8" x 10" paper towel for wiping off brush paper or styrofoam plate for paints water cup or parent for washing brushes

I have taught middle and high school English for a decade. I have taught afterschool art for a year using numerous mediums: chalk, oil pastel, water colors, acrylic and oil paints.
