In this one time class students will join me in discovering the different characteristics of animals, and learn common animal phyla as they help to classify real specimens. We will also investigate how animals get their scientific names, and use a dichotomous key to identify artificial specimens. My teaching style is very discussion-based. I love questions! I am a licensed science teacher and have experience working with wildlife, in a microbiology lab, and also in animal welfare. I have always been called to work with children and have volunteered at girl scout camps, zoo camps and children's hospitals. As a teacher on Outschool I am committed to bringing visual and tangible content to the classroom. I believe teaching is more than just a lecture. My students learn best by seeing examples of concepts, and by breaking new content down into manageable pieces. I look forward to working with your family soon!
1 註冊後即可取得文件At a minimum, students will need to bring paper (ideally blank paper), scissors, and a pencil to class so that we can explore animal symmetry. I would also suggest printing (if possible) the dichotomous key that is attached to the welcome post in the classroom so that students can have it at their fingertips when we use it.
Parents assume responsibility for supervising children during class including but not limited to participation in activities with scissors.
