Ready to become an Egyptologists? Don't worry, no experience necessary! In this class we will talk about some of the most interesting parts of Ancient Egypt! Each week there is a prerecorded lesson that students will need to watch. There are also a few activities that are done after class that the students will upload and share on our classroom page. Classroom discussions are also a large part of this class. We use the classroom to discuss theories, things that surprised us, and any questions that students might have. Day One: Ancient hieroglyphs - We will take a field trip to Egypt and look at hieroglyphs. Once we have an understanding of this ancient language you will get a chance to decode hieroglyphic messages and even write your own! - Once you've written your own message you'll upload it to the classroom. Day Two: Life After Death - In this class we will learn about the mummification process, burial rituals, and The Book of the Dead. You will get to design your own tomb at the end of this class. Day Three: The Ancient Egyptians believed in many gods. In this class we will learn about some of their most important gods, their roles, and how they looked. At the end of class you will create a poster of the gods and what they looked like. Day Four: The Curse of the Mummy - What happened to the people who opened King Tutankhamun's tomb? Could there actually be a curse? I will present you with the facts that we know and then you will get to decide the answer to that question for yourself.

There will be imaged of both wrapped and unwrapped mummies in this class. I will always warn students before showing an image, but if they are sensitive to death this may not be the best class for them.

Hello families! I’m Amanda and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to teach your learner! I love everything about education and feel consider being a teacher as part of who I am. It is my passion!
I have a bachelor's degree in elementary and special education, two active teaching licenses in Arizona and reading and ESL endorsements. I've been teaching since 2017 and I'm working towards a master's in child and adolescent development.
My goal as your learner’s teacher is to inspire them to be lifelong learners. Learning is scary and requires a lot of vulnerability to take chances knowing you could make a mistake. I pride myself on helping students feel safe, confident, and secure in themselves. I’ve always seen tremendous growth in students when they are in an environment that allows for them to safely make mistakes and learn from them.
I’m looking forward to meeting your learner and joining them in their educational journey!
