Students will learn how to sign the alphabet, numbers, basic introductions and more! This is a prerequisite to the next class, American Sign Language Class | Beginner 2/3 | Ages 11-15 | Flex Class Week 1: Alphabet Week 2: Numbers 1-20 Week 3: Emotions Week 4: Colors Week 5: Full Review Learners will not only learn signs but will also have receptive practice lessons every Friday. Receptive skills are a crucial part of the language and will benefit their expressive skills as well. This is also a fun activity for learners. I studied American Sign Language Interpreting in college and received my Bachelor's Degree through Northern Arizona University. I have been a sign language Interpreter in the K-12 setting for the past eight years. I am fluent and passionate about this beautiful language and Deaf culture. I also have experience teaching. So I figured why not merge the two together!
A device to access the materials

The instructor will post Youtube videos (of the instructor) signing and teaching the lesson. Students WILL NOT have to go to outage to watch these videos. They stay within the Outschool platform. *Every Wednesday, the instructor will make a post and encourage students to post a video of themselves signing. This is NOT required however, if the parent or guardian gives permission, this is a wonderful way for the instructor to give feedback and assess progress. The ability to record is simple. You click the paperclip icon and you can click add video>Record>submit.
I may use Google Slides to show a lesson. Your child will not need to access the slide. I will "share my screen" to show the slide.
